About me
Security shouldn’t be a project with a start and an end. Threats and technology evolve faster than any project plan, so security has to improve continuously. Preventing incidents and responding to them should go hand in hand.
That belief drives my vision. I turn Microsoft security technology into propositions and services that organizations can rely on, building the business around them: the strategy, go-to-market and ways of working that make them scale. Most providers can respond when something goes wrong. I focus on what too often gets neglected: continuously reducing the risk of incidents in the first place. That responsibility often falls to IT teams already busy keeping the business running.
I work best where technology and business meet. I’m a trusted advisor to C-level executives on risk, priorities and roadmaps, and a sparring partner to sales, delivery and management on where our services go next. I lead through technical direction rather than operational management.
My home is Microsoft Security, from identity and devices to data and AI. As a Microsoft Security MVP, I share what I learn through my blog, conference talks and the Dutch Microsoft Security meetup, which I co-organize with 2,000+ members. Sharing knowledge keeps me sharp and connected to the real challenges people face.
Away from the keyboard, you’ll find me snowboarding or lost in a sci-fi or fantasy book, board game or video game. Those worlds regularly sneak into my conference sessions too.
